<h1><span style="color: #000080; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Professional (Personal) Learning Networks</span></h1> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">Keeping up to date and current in your teaching area is an extremely important aspect to teaching, but the constant concern with being able to research current trends is finding the time to actually sit down to do it. With the advent of Web 2.0 technologies though, we can actually create personal learning networks that do the research and deliver the information to us automatically. The power of a personal learning network is in the people you choose to follow, learn from, and network with. In this workshop we will investigate some of the reasons one would create a PLN, HOW to create a PLN, and discuss resources that you can use to begin your own network. Remember, PLN's are for you to network with other adults and professionals in your field. The resources you will be creating today won't necessarily be used to connect with your students or to directly instruct them.</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>*Disclaimer</strong>* This workshop requires <strong>YOU</strong> to put <strong>YOURSELF</strong> out there to gain contacts. You should be prepared to reach out to perfect strangers, search for educational leaders and connect with as many people as you can. Remember - your PLN is only as good as the people you choose to learn from!</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">Tentative Agenda - </span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">9:00-9:15 Introductions/Go Over day...</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">9:15 – 10:30</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •What is a PLN?</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Why is it beneficial to have one as a teacher?</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •How can we use one?</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Discuss RSS Feeds/Why they are useful for PLN's</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Set up a Wikispace or Google Site as a Base for your Network</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Begin setting up resources below to connect with others</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">Resources</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"><br /> </span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Twitter</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Facebook</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Diigo</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Teacher Tube/You Tube</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Linkedin</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;"> •Blogger</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">10:30 – 10:40 AM Break</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">10:40 – 11:30 Continue to work on Wikispaces and Resources</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">11:30 – 12:30 Lunch</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">12:30 – 2:45 Continue Working From AM</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">2:45 Evaluations, Follow Up Questions and out!</span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080;">twitter - dmileham75</span><br /> <span style="color: #000080;">facebook - davem mileham</span><br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <span style="color: #000080; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; line-height: 0px; overflow: hidden;"></span>
